Once upon a time I wrote an article on interesting Belgian pinning ladies, including Dagmara Stozek. After this, I got a really sweet message saying that she would like to tell her story to me if I was interested. Proactive as she is, Dagmara invited me over for tea at her lovely home in Mechelen, where we talked about her business, her youth in Poland and the possibility of living in Scandinavia.
When I get off the train, it’s one of the first sunny days and I follow the river to where Dagmara’s house should be according to Google maps. Dagmara lives in her mother’s house with her two cats. She doesn’t particularly like living in Mechelen, but for now it’s the best solution as her boyfriend is living abroad and she’s starting up her business.
A beautiful girl in a mint green top opens the door when I ring the doorbell. She’s all smiles and pretty eyes and welcomes me in her home. We drink some tea and eat some banana bread and talk about her projects.
Dagmara started her allround concept agency as a school project, but it ended up being so much more. She wants to offer small brands and companies the opportunity of getting affordable new media services. Dagmara doesn’t only design their logo’s and make their websites, she takes the concept of creating brand identity one step further. From art direction to photoshoots and party planning, when you hire Dagmara, you really get the whole package.
1. Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I’m Dagmara and I am the founder of Bureau Jacky. I value honesty and modesty, I like to enjoy life and do everything I do with passion. I lived in Poland until I was six and spent the summers afterwards there with my grandmother. I feel enjoyed a great deal of freedom in my youth. I’ve been working a lot lately but because I love what I do, it doesn’t feel like work to me.
2. What is your nicest collaboration so far?
I like all the collabs I did, but I’m particularly fond of the one I have with VIKTOR. I designed their website and am hosting a pop up event with them this month that’s called SUPRMRKT. On the 17-18-19th of may, you can come to the Bureau Jacky supermarket and buy a package of services according to your needs. There’s a template for everyone’s needs!
3. Where do you get inspiration?
From life, internet, magazines,…Before Pinterest, I used to have these big scrapbooks, but Pinterest has made things a lot easier! I love all things with a good concept. If the story checks out, it inspires me.
4. Where do you see yourself in five years?
I hope not in sweatpants surrounded by ten cats! I would love to live and work abroad for a while, in Scandinavia. Copenhagen or Stockholm really attract me, I love the way how everything is so perfectly designed there. I hope in five years, Bureau Jacky will do well and I can help people with their businesses, give them exactly what they need.
And don’t forget to drop by at her pop up shop!
