I was planning to write this post earlier, but well, then I spent most of this week being sick in bed and that did not happen. Oops. This friday feels like a monday to me, so it’s kind of the perfect moment to talk a little about the Filippa K spring collection.
I remember buying my first Filippa K items when I was about 16 and some of the pieces are still in my wardrobe. Like my perfect wool trousers, a go to on formal occasions, and my cotton shirtdress, elegant in its simplicity. When it comes to excelling in minimalism, nothing beats Scandinavian design. I always find it so refreshing. Declutter. Optimalize. Breathe.
I was invited to a blogger lunch last week and someone from the Filippa K office said that what’s so typical about Swedish design is that they never had much natural resources so their design has always had to be really functional and spot on. This actually makes a lot of sense to me, and it might be why I like it so much. The spring/ summer collection perfectly fits the Filippa K profile: sleek and chic, yet playful and with just the right amount of colour. What I love most is the mix of textures in the fabrics, the fabrics felt so good and this really tells you all about the quality of a piece you need to know.
We ate a lovely Swedish lunch at De mArkt, discovered the collection and got the chance to style our own favorite outfit, something you don’t have to ask me twice. I went for a work look with a twist: lovely printed trousers, a fresh coral shirt to dress it up, some stripes to make it more interesting, perfect everyday ankle boots and the one thing that makes every work outfit complete: a clean cut blazer. I love how it is still minimalistic and sleek in cut but you can still play around with the prints and colours. A spring outfit I would love to walk around in. As for the rest of the collection, I’ve selected some favorites, you can find everything here.
