I came across this picture online and just had to post it. New York, Diesel denim and Converse: an exquisite fit (pun intented).

Reimagining, reinventing and getting back to greatness, that is why I flew to Madrid last week. C&A invited us to be on the forefront of the design challenge they had embarked upon with 8 young and creative designers. The objective? Arming these designers with 200 plastic cups, forks, spoon and knives and giving them complete creative freedom to develop a window display. Up until now we have just gotten some teasers since the windows will only be revealed on the 24th of January. The design of Belgian participant Tom van der Borght will be revealed in the C&A store on the Meir. I will definitely keep you up to date!
In the Matadero we got the chance to meet all the designers participating and discover their previous work. I’m personally very curious to see the result of designers Miriam Lehle and Georgina Santiago who were both very charming and had incredibly beautiful collections. Later that day we went to Museo Reina Sofia and got the opportunity to see some works by Picasso, Dali and Miro. Here are a few memorable shots of that day, more coming later. Especially our amazing hotel Hotel Silken Puerta América Madrid and the area we visited in Madrid, Chueca, deserve posts completely to themselves.
The ingenious designs of Pauline van Dongen in which she incorporates magnetic poles (which is shown in the picture).
Been craving black again lately. It’s not as if it ever “left” my wardrobe, I just tried to diversify a bit. Although I adore some good use of colour, I just feel black is such a strong colour for anyone’s wardrobe. I can feel it in my recent purchases and see it in my pins: I’ll be wearing a lot of black in the spring.
For the C&A reimagine challenge we were invited to this beautiful location in Madrid, the Matadero, which used to be one big slaughter house complex. The Matadero now is a contemporary art center which, as a location, ties in perfectly with the aim of the C&A reimagine challenge focussing on reinvention (more on that later). Beautiful buildings even tough I couldn’t really shake the feeling of the history of the place. For now I will already show you what I wore during the daytime activities of the trip. For the evening portion of the event, which was a delicious dinner at the Restaurant Teatriz in the center of Madrid I don’t have pictures except for some instagrams. In both outfits I encorporated an item that was once worn by my parents. During the day my mom’s necklace and at night my dad’s old army shirt (combined with this dress and my Haider Ackermann ankle boots).
I just got back from an amazing trip to Madrid for the C&A Reimagine Design Challenge (more on that later!) and am completely exhausted and satisfied at the same time. We love travelling and Madrid was a great city. So Patricia gave you a postcard from Paris and now I’m giving you a snapshot of Tiany, Afrodite and myself at the dinner last night. Now I’m off to bed to catch up on some sleep!

A quick update while I’m in Paris an Marijs is in Madrid with C&A. We had wonderful weather here yesterday, crazy cold but with blue skies and sunshine, and this wonderful sunset to match. I took this when we got out of the metro at Place de la Concorde, such a pretty sight. Off to the jewellery fair today, and back home later tonight!
On a very rainy saturday , Le boyfriend and I went to Rotterdam. 20 bucks and 37 minutes and we were there. To be honest, I don’t think we will be going back anytime soon, at least not without a specific reason. It was kind of depressing to see how empty the (rainy) streets were on the last weekend before Christmas, so we spent our time mostly in cafe’s, restaurants and museums. We actually did quite a lot: 2 coffeebreaks, lunch, dinner, drinks, a little windowshopping (meh), an exposition called The Road to Van Eyck (meh), one about architect Louis Kahn (great stuff) and we visited the Sonneveld house.
A trend that I can’t get enough of (my love has grown even bigger since I started working for DIESEL) and a seemingly prefect couple.

You might have noticed it has gotten awfully cold outside and with the new layer of snow, here is some inspiration to survive a walk down the street. When it’s this frosty you can catch me in a pair of gloves, a hat and not one but two scarves with a really warm sweater under my coat. Not the most attractive look but necessary when walking everywhere. Isn’t it strange that some of the wintertime charme diminishes after Christmas and New Years?
Remember my small modelling adventure for Lily And The Lady? Well I wore these MIH Jeans in one of the shots and haven’t stopped thinking about them since. So on Sathurday’s sales day at the Lily And The Lady HQ, I finally caved. Can’t wait until it gets a bit warmer.
