these mysterious boots. I stumbled upon them while browsing the wonderful world of Pinterest. To my great disappointing I can’t find from which brand they are (despite a thorough search) so if you have an inkling, let me know!

Sunshine makes us happy, I think that was about quite clear by now. Sitting in my garden reminds me of the amazing road trip I did with a couple of my girlfriends. Being in the south of France with true friends really felt like the break with reality that I needed at the time. For five days we were able to do everything that we wanted including cocktails at 3 pm, playing petanque in bikinis and enjoying good food. Every morning we spent visiting the small villages with loads of locally sourced products like great cheeses, fragrant soaps and beautifully colored and delicious vegetables. Afternoons were spent next to the pool with some champagne and hundreds of amazing talks. Sweet girls, when are we going back?
Coming from both sides of the language border, the brands I would like to introduce you ooze an enormous amount of cool. Our Belgian readers might have already heard from them but for everyone who hasn’t, you’re going to want to be a part of their crew. The brands I’m talking about are Filles à Papa and Made By Chickies. Both were started by a powerful female duo only a few years ago and satisfy the best of your sportswear inspired cravings with a big dose of guts on the side.
We have known Made By Chickies for some time now as they originate from our hometown Leuven. You’ve also seen them a couple of times on the blog as Kim worked with them on one of their previous campaigns. I personally have been a fan of all their campaigns and of their whimsical accessories. Their third collection has the usual streetwear influences with that humorous edge of Mickey Mouse hands, diamonds and straight to the point slogans that make your heart race faster.
Before we were approached by ZEB, we didn’t know all that much about it. We’d hear about it on the news when they had yet again broken the rules with their “zolden”, starting the sales period mid june or mid december. I had never set foot in one of their 33 (!) shops in Flandres.
But when we got the chance to do this styling night, we discovered that ZEB has quite some things we like in store. Classic jeanswear like Diesel and Lee, yes, but also brands like Mango, Vero Moda and Noë. And when we actually discovered the shop on the night of the styling, we were like kids in a candystore.
What mostly hit us that night was the atmosphere. I think I can honestly say that this was one of the nicest events we’ve been to since we started Ella & Louise. There was no pressure and we really got to do our own thing with our winner Charlotte. No fuss, just clean fun! She wanted to go out of her comfort zone, something we obviously loved to hear. And so, we dressed her up in a polkadot jumpsuit that fit her like a glove. And we created a second look with a beautiful coral color pop and statement pants.
“The tempo of the city had changed sharply, the buildings were higher, the parties were bigger, the morals were looser and the liquor was cheaper.”
I’ve told you before that I’m anxiously waiting for The Great Gatsby to be released. Well good news, the trailer is here! Can’t wait to be thrown into a new decadent Baz Luhrmann adventure.
Head on over to An Afternoon With for portraits of creative people and their spaces. No retouching, only pictures taken in natural daylight. Great website. Great pictures. Tons of inspiration.
I didn’t want to do a full review of the red carpet happening at Cannes 2012. Diane Kruger however had some amazing runway looks and therefore I thought it would be fun to highlight her outfits (in order of my personal favorites). Which one do you like best?
This snap above from Lily and the Lady‘s New Girl inspired photo shoot is one of my favorite pictures for the site ever. I just love the positive energy. It’s happy, playful, classy and a little bit retro. Everything I want Lily and the lady to be. You can check out the full set of pics here.
For those of you living in Belgium, Lily and the Lady will be at this event on sunday, stop by if you’re in the neighborhood! We’d love to see you.
I only recently discovered Free People through one of their beautiful catalogue images. There was an instant click and I started following them on all their social media platform of which my favorites are Instagram and Pinterest. I love their bohemian flair and the focus on festivals and on a free adventurous life. It might speak to my inner hippie or just to the fact that we are still young and shouldn’t forget that.
Even though the weather is only giving us a little bit of warmth, my craving for sunshine is constant. Wouldn’t you want to be able to wear this outfit?
